Dean Kirby and Paul Cross ready to go

We’ve decided to don our bike gear and get raising money for a brilliant cause and we need your help!

November 2019 will see Managing Director, Dean Kirby, and Electrical Project Manager, Paul Cross, complete an inspiring bike ride from Angkor Wat to Bangkok in aid of fundraising for Cancer Research UK.

This is a disease that touches so many and they want to help be part of beating Cancer once and for all. Cancer Research is a major charity in the UK and as individuals and a business, want to give something back for the excellent work they do. Understanding the causes of different cancers and preventing more cases could save many thousands of lives.

The challenge will see them exploring ancient cities, riding past waterways, rice fields and cycling deep into the heart of ancient Cambodia. Which all sounds lovely. But there is a catch – it all has to be done in 6 days, by bike, across unpaved, dusty, busy roads in high heat and humidity.

However, they think it is worth it to drum up funds to support a charity that will help the future of beating Cancer. No longer should people have to suffer what we know all too well is such a cause of pain for so many.

Although the targets and challenges may seem ambitious and are definitely out of their comfort zone, this is the only way we know how. At Closewood, we aim high and this is what we aim to do here as well. The fundraising will be a group effort but ultimately, it is these two that are putting in the graft (even if they do get 2 weeks off!).

So let’s see 375km worth of donations! We would really appreciate any help you can give.

If you wish to donate, please go to our Cancer Research Giving Page.

Check back in with us over the coming months as we will be posting regular updates here and on our social media.

Bring on the challenge.
